Rúin Online Workshop

Funded by The Arts Council Ireland, this three day, online workshop will be about playing with the latest draft of Rúin and diving deeper into the play’s themes.

Directed and facilitated by Caoilfhionn Crowley, the research and development workshop will aim to have the end goal of equipping Wallis with the tools she needs to complete her final draft.

‘In 1959, Otto Skorzeny purchased Martinstown House in Kildare. Due to his past as Hitler’s favourite commando, this set off a flurry of national and international press interest, and attracted the attention of the British and Irish governments. As both governments work to find out his interests, Marian, his secretary and a local girl, becomes embroiled in their efforts – in a way that will change the course of her whole life.’

THE READING ROOM

Three plays provided each month focusing on a selected writer. Virtual meet-ups last Sunday of every month with special guests! The meet-up serves to encourage the discussion of the plays and ideas.

With special guest, Irish actress Wallis Hamilton Felton, who will be talking and answering questions about Irish theatre, playwrights and her experiences as an Irish actress and playwright in London.

Other special guests include Director Caroline Byrne and Marina Carr herself.

Enchantment

The Academy of St Mary-le-Bow performs a concert of music inspired by the theme of ‘Enchantment’ filled with magic, fairies, witches and wizards. St Cuthbert’s will be transformed, with lighting and sound, into an enchanted forest for a programme that includes Mendelssohn’s incidental music from ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ brought to life by actress Wallis Hamilton Felton, as well Dukas’ The Sorcerer's Apprentice, made famous by a lazy Mickey Mouse in Disney’s Fantasia!

Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique concludes the programme, telling the story of a young artist, who, enchanted by his love, dreams a gruesome tale where he is marched to the execution scaffold, condemned for the murder of his beloved, and sees her dancing with witches, shades, sorcerers and monsters at his funeral – All this just in time for Halloween!
